Running Sales Specialist are knowledgeable about the sport of running, outgoing, hard workers, and team players. As a running sales specialist, you’ll provide individualized service for an excellent customer experience, and problem-solve to help customers find the best gear.
What is your job?
You will serve a wide range of customers, from the beginning walker/runner, to the experienced athlete, and everything in between. Some of your customers may simply be looking for a comfortable shoe or the right pair of socks. You will be excited to connect with customers so they feel welcome, heard, and encouraged.
It is your job to listen to the customer, analyze their needs, and fit them with the appropriate gear. You will share your extensive knowledge and personal experience surrounding product, training, and injury in an approachable way. You are expected to adapt to personalities, and go above and beyond to win customers over. During busy times, you are expected to help multiple customers, answer phone calls, and be aware of what’s happening in the store simultaneously.
You will learn about product, training, and injury. You will continually hone your expertise as new research, products and technologies arise. When you work at Beyond Running, you are committed to being a true expert and providing sound advice. You’ll be receptive to and grow from constructive feedback.

You will take pride in the store by maintaining an outstanding customer environment and executing pleasing product display. You will help select product, complete orders, and work closely with team-members to ensure the shop is running smoothly. You will model reliability and flexibility by being able to work varied hours and days to meet the needs of the store.

Qualifications:
- Interest in running. You don't need to be fast, but you do need to have some experience with the sport of running
- Outgoing and loves to talk to people
- Able and willing to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Passionate about connecting with people so you can understand and help solve their problems
- Able to actively listen and analyze customer needs
- Excited to be an active member of the store community
- Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and vendors
- Do the right thing for the customer and the store
- Able to divide your attention effectively in a distracting environment
- Possess high level of self-awareness with ability to grow from constructive feedback
- Model reliability and flexibility by being able to work varied hours and days to meet the needs of the business
- Previous experience in retail preferred
Hours/Availability
Availability must align with needs of the business, which may vary depending on season. You will be required to work some weekends. Shifts could include a combination of mornings, evenings, and weekends. We require that you be available to work the week of the Fargo Marathon and Summer Street Fair and may ask additional availability around Black Friday/Small Business Saturday, special events, and Holiday weekend. Willingness to go above and beyond when needed. Full and Part-time positions available.
